GE Graph

Google Earth Blog has recently described two new freeware applications for Google Earth that extend the functionality of the free program well beyond the Plus version. Now that I’ve downloaded GE Graph, I am delighted to report that it works really well. Simply create a folder of placemarks in Google Earth, then save the folder as .kml. The folder opens in GE Graph; just add the data for the placemarks, configure your choice of graph and see the results in Google Earth. The thumbnail below illustrates my first effort at plotting river velocities downstream.

This looks fantastic for demonstrating spatial patterns, however, when I try to open the installed software I get a message that it won’t open as my version of ‘ecGrid.ocx’ is outdated. Do you have any ideas how I might solve this? Many thanks.

This is a known issue. Unfortunately the web page is filtered by my school, however I think if you go to the post here: http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/358193 the answer is to register the .dll file manually using a freeware tool.

    Good luck!
