Not digital geography - urban models

Here’s a selection of brilliant Year 7 homework on the subject of urban land use. For some reason this topic has really grabbed them this year and my classroom is now full of collage and 3D models. There will be an ICT dimension to this work - but that is for next week!

    Hi Noel
Great work! I shall add this activity to my SoW for next year forthwith…
How big are some of the pieces ? They look quite large…
Will use the images to model the idea to the students here.
    Thanks for sharing

    Hi Mr Jenkins Year 7!

I am a friend of Mr Jenkins and I teach Geography in Dundee, in Scotland. I am really impressed with your urban models and they have given me some ideas for teaching this topic to my third years (Year 10).

If you look at a map of Scotland, you will see that Dundee is on the estuary of the River Tay so instead of having circular urban zones, ours are semicircular with a couple of sectors thrown in too!

I notice that some of your models are two dimensional and some are three dimensional but I am really looking forward to seeing the ICT dimension which Mr Jenkins is promising.

    Hi there

I am a geography teacher from near Cambridge, I have been very impressed by the standard and quality of your models showcased on this site - they show great understanding of the different urban land-use zones - I am definitely going to get my students on the case, making some of their own!

    Keep up the great work!
